Why Train Off the Ice?

Off-ice training is an essential part of a figure skater’s development. These classes are designed to build the strength, athleticism, and movement skills that translate directly to improved performance on the ice.

Our summer training program focuses on:

  • Strength and Conditioning – Develop power, endurance, and overall athleticism.
  • Flexibility and Mobility – Increase range of motion for stronger positions and cleaner lines.
  • Balance and Coordination – Improve body control, stability, and movement efficiency.
  • Artistry and Presentation – Enhance expression, confidence, and performance quality.
  • Injury Prevention – Build proper movement patterns and strength to support long-term athlete health.
  • Body Awareness and Control – Gain a better understanding of alignment, posture, and technique.
  • Skating-Specific Movement Patterns – Reinforce movements that directly support jumps, spins, edges, and overall skating skills.

These classes complement on-ice training by helping skaters become stronger, more confident, and more well-rounded athletes. Whether your goal is testing, competition, or personal growth, off-ice training provides the foundation for success on the ice. ✨⛸️

Why Ballet for Figure Skaters?

Ballet has long been a foundational training tool for elite figure skaters around the world. The discipline, body awareness, and artistry developed in ballet directly translate to improved performance on the ice.

Our ballet classes help skaters develop:

  • Balance and Body Control – Improve stability, posture, and alignment for stronger skating fundamentals.
  • Grace and Artistry – Enhance presentation, musicality, expression, and performance quality.
  • Flexibility and Extension – Increase range of motion for spirals, layback positions, spins, and overall skating lines.
  • Strength and Coordination – Build core strength, coordination, and movement efficiency.
  • Jump and Spin Technique – Develop proper body positioning, air awareness, and control that support on-ice skills.
  • Confidence and Presence – Learn how to move with poise and confidence both on and off the ice.

Whether a skater's goal is recreational skating, testing, competitions, or high-level performance, ballet provides valuable skills that help athletes become stronger, more expressive, and more technically sound skaters.

Simply put: better movement off the ice leads to better performance on the ice.
